FAB Highlights 2012
2012 was a great year for FAB. Here are some of our favorite moments!
We kicked off 2012 with a private tour of L’Atelier Couture Bridal in Downtown Minneapolis. Not only did we get the opportunity to see all of the beautiful gowns and learn more about the designing process, but some of the girls even got the chance to try on Vera Wang gowns! Unfortunately my standards are now really high for my future wedding. Sorry guys…
Scrubbed Into Fashion 2012 was the most rewarding event FAB hosted in 2012. Our board gained valuable experience planning and running a large-scale fashion show, while also helping charity. The designs were made from medical scrubs and designed with an African theme in mind. Each garment was spectacular and all of the designers did a wonderful job! In the end, we raised over $23,000 for Smile Network International.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I had a blast this fall. All of FAB’s events were fun and enlightening. One of my favorite moments was when we had a little impromptu guerilla fashion show at the Launch Party. We all looked fabulous, so why not? And I know the DJs appreciated it.
The Magazine Panel is probably my favorite FAB event so far. Leslie Plesser, Jahna Peloquin, and Katherine Harris were so awesome to take time out of their busy schedules to talk to us about what it takes to make it in the magazine world. Whether you want to be a photographer, freelance writer, stylist, or graphic designer, these ladies had great advice. I am very grateful that FAB had the opportunity to hear them speak and make new connections.
The winter issue of TWIN Magazine (which will be released Early January, so keep your eye out!) features a wonderful flapper-inspired holiday spread. The location was beautiful, the clothes were beyond gorgeous, and the people were great. I had so much fun doing this shoot, even though I had to wake up at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday. This is one of our best shoots to date.
2012 was a great year for FAB. We tried on Vera Wang wedding dresses at L’atelier Couture , hosted Scrubbed Into Fashion for the second year, networked like crazy, and revamped TWIN Magazine. Not to mention we made some new friends in the process! More great things are lined up for 2013, so stay tuned! Xoxo, Melanie.
