For those who were unable to attend the FAB Launch Party this past Thursday and those who did, here is what we went over.
- To become a FAB Member: Please fill out the application and submit the annual due of $25 located under the “Involvement” tab. The application will close on Friday, October 3rd for this semester.
- FAB is looking for members to join the board as brand ambassadors, an alumni coordinator, social media assistants, the spring fashion show committee, and a photographer. For more information click on the “Board” tab and then “Open Positions“. Applications are accepted through Friday, September 26th.
- Interested in Design? We are hosting a t-shirt design competition for FAB’s 2014-2015 Member T-shirt. Please email email@example.com with your design featuring the FAB logo and with space for potential sponsor logos. Deadline: Friday, October 3rd. Winner receives a $20 restaurant gift card.
The next FAB event is THIS Friday (September 19th). The Fashion & Business Career Exhibition will be from 11:00am – 2:00pm in the Mississippi Room of Coffman Memorial Union. We have some great employers who are eager to meet you and discuss internship, volunteer, and employment opportunities! Advanced registration is encouraged but not required and you can do so under the “FBCE” tab and then “Student Registration”
Join us on Thursday, September 11th at 7:30pm in Lind Hall room 340 for the official launch of FAB for the 2014-2015 school year. We will start with an information session to discuss who we are and what we do as a student organization, upcoming events, and ways for members to get involved. At 8:00pm we will have a social hour for members to meet each other and the board while enjoying some Arnold Palmers and cookies.
FAB is now accepting applications for next year’s board! We are currently searching for a Vice President, Marketing Coordinator, and Event Coordinator. Joining the FAB board is a great way to gain experience and it could be your first step for a career in the fashion industry. And you might even make some friends in the process. Rise, presented by FAB: Fashion & Business, is a upscale runway event benefiting the Twin Cities chapter of Dress for Success. RISE will feature six University of Minnesota designers showcasing three different looks. The event will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Rapson Hall.
*Paying FAB members can purchase $5 tickets at the door.
It’s about that time of the year when students start to look for summer internships and full-time jobs, and FAB wants you to be prepared! We will be hosting a resume and portfolio review on Thursday, February 27th at 6:00 PM in Nicholson 355! Get your resume critiqued and ask any career questions you might have! Click here to RSVP.

Thursday, September 12th will be FAB’s first event of the semester! Starting at 6:30 in STSS 530B, we will have a new member info session. If you have considered joining FAB in the past, or if you are new to the U of M, feel free to attend! We will be discussing upcoming events for the semester, how members can get involved, and it is also a great way to meet other FAB members.
At 7:00 after the member info session, we will be having a launch party to celebrate the beginning of Fall semester and the September Issue of TWIN Magazine. Come enjoy cupcakes, socialize with other FAB members, and get your makeup done!
FAB is looking for street photographers with quality cameras to take fashion photos on campus during welcome week (August 28-September 2). Photos will be used on our website, social media accounts, and potentially in TWIN Magazine! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested!
